The city of Rome hosts two football teams, AS Roma and SS Lazio. Twice a year, the two teams meet for the derby, and the audience is always more spectacular than the match itself!
Football is a pure passion in Italy, and it is even stronger in Rome. In every corner, in every bar, in every place, you will find people talking about the last match (on Mondays), or the next (on Fridays).
AS Roma was born in 1927.
Won Italian Championship in 1942, 1983 and 2001.
Its colours are maroon red and golden yellow, which are also the official colours of the City of Rome. The wolf in its badge represents the myth of the creation of Rome, the legend of the female wolf who fed Romulus and Remus.
Francesco Totti, the captain, is also the heart of the team, and has recently signed a contract committing him to AS Roma (the only club he has ever played for) until 2014.
SS Lazio is the elder brother, born in 1900.
Won Italian Championship in 1974 and 2000. Its colours, white and sky blue, are inspired by the national flag of Greece, homeland of the first Olympic games. Its symbol is an eagle, one of Roman Empire military emblems.
In 1999 SS Lazio won both UEFA Cup and UEFA Super Cup
